Events Reminders – Coming Soon!

Here is a list of upcoming retreat, workshop, and conference opportunities that will be happening early in 2010:

The 2010 Cabin Fever Clay Fest will be happening from February 19 to 24 in Laurel, Maryland.  The fantastic lineup of workshop instructors include Jeffrey Lloyd Dever, and 1-day workshops from Lindly Haunani, Maggie Maggio, Nan Roche, and Cindy Silas, Tony Aquino, Maureen Carlson, Grant Diffendaffer, Dayle Doroshow, Louise Fischer Cozzi, Laurie Mika, Kathryn Jo Ottman, Lisa Pavelka, Ronna Sarvas Weltman, and Sarah Shriver. There are still spots available at both the main conference and pre-conference workshops.  The registration deadline has been extended to January 20th, so don’t hesitate, if you want to go!

The Orlando Clay Fandango workshop retreat is hosted by the Orlando Area Polymer Clay Guild (OAPCG) and will be happening soon!  The 2010 dates are March 11,12,13,14, and 15, so there’s not a lot of time left to plan.  This year’s workshops will include Christi Friesen, Julie Picarello and Sarah Shriver.  Sure hope a lot of people can go!
In Fairborn, Ohio, from Thursday, February 18 through Sunday, February 21, 2010, the 2010 Buckeye Clay Bash will happen.  This retreat will feature guest artist, Kim Cavender.  Registration closes soon.

Art and Soul in Wonderland will take place in Las Vegas (yes!), February 21 to 24, 2010.  Though not dedicated to polymer clay, Art and Soul confrences are wonderful for mixed-media artists.
Finally, I’d like to call attention to Lisa Pavelka’s Art Across the Ocean’s cruise lineup for this year.  As an ex-travel agent, I will tell you that a cruise can be a terrific vacation bargain, when you break it down to total cost per day.  I, for one, will be seriously considering one of these cruises.

If you have any events you’d like me to call attention to, please send an email to me with the details.

  • Come join us for our 6th Annual Orlando Clay Fandango! Our theme this year is Hidden Treasures, and we would love to have you attend.
We are exploring the Hidden Treasures of Polymer Clay with Christi Friesen, Maureen Carlson and Penni Jo Couch. Christi Friesen will work her magic with polymer clay and resin in her creative waterfall project. Maureen Carlson will take you on an adventure into storyland and help you create your own story necklace using polymer clay and alcohol inks. Penni Jo Couch will take you into the world of stitches and flourishes, molding forms and buttons and iron-on glass jewels to create your very own polymer clay sampler. There will be demos with Linda Hess, Kathleen Davis and Nancy Welch throughout the day and evening as they share their secrets and talents with all the attendees.

Vendors will be available for sales. All the attendees can sign up and sell their creations in the boutique.

The treasure trove of activities will include a live auction on Saturday of all the donated items from various artists, a hidden treasure box competition—so start planning your secret boxes now, a matchbox treasure swap, and our Bottles of Hope contests, just to name a few.

The retreat will be held at Lake Yale, Leesburg, FL. The dates are May 19-23, 2011. Click here to sign up today! Or visit our webpage at http://www.oapcguild.com/retreat.htm. Don’t wait too long, space is limited!
There’s still time. We have a few openings left, so act quickly.
